Shorty Award Nomination for Groundbreaking Fundraising Campaign, “Duriel’s Offering”

Tiggywinkles is delighted to announce that a collaborative fundraising campaign Duriel’s Offering, delivered by the creative masters at Blizzard Entertainment, has been nominated for a 17th Annual Shorty Award, which recognises excellence in social media and digital innovation.

Launched in partnership with the Diablo IV gaming community, Duriel’s Offering was a one-of-a-kind campaign that combined digital culture with real-world impact. Inspired by Duriel, a maggot-themed boss character in the game, the campaign cleverly encouraged fans to donate towards providing actual maggots—an essential food source for injured and orphaned insectivorous birds at Tiggywinkles.

Through witty storytelling and immersive digital content, the project successfully raised enough money to fund four years’ worth of maggots, directly supporting the care of thousands of wild birds undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

At the peak of baby bird season, our Nursery can house up to 400 birds at once, each needing to be hand-fed every 15 minutes from dawn to dusk. We go through more than seven buckets of maggots every week—a staggering amount that’s absolutely vital to our patients’ survival. Thanks to Duriel’s Offering, that need is now fully funded for years.

By blending gaming culture, creative storytelling, and wildlife conservation, Duriel’s Offering demonstrated the potential of modern fundraising to reach new audiences and achieve tangible results.

Huge thanks to everyone who supported this brilliant blend of gaming, generosity, and wildlife rescue!
