Release Sites

Our goal is simple: to return as many wild animals as possible back to their natural homes. Wherever possible, they’re released in the area they were found – but when that isn’t suitable, we rely on safe, approved release sites.

Every creature – big or small – deserves a second chance.
As one of the UK’s leading wildlife hospitals, we care for hundreds of larger wild animals each year – including fallow and roe deer, foxes, badgers, swans, and more. Once fully recovered, these animals need somewhere safe and natural to call home again.

We’re looking for new release sites for our larger patients – peaceful countryside, woodland, or farmland where they can safely return to the wild.

What Makes a Good Release Site

  • Habitat suitability: The area should offer the right food, water, shelter, and cover for the species being released.
  • Safety and minimal disturbance: The site must be safe for both wildlife and nearby people or livestock. Low levels of human and pet activity are ideal.
  • Landowner permission: All releases must have full consent from the landowner and take neighbouring land use into account.
  • Capacity & ecological balance: We avoid overcrowding – sites should be able to sustainably support the released animal(s).
  • Team access: Our rehabilitation team needs to be able to reach the site for release, monitoring, or follow-up visits.

If you manage or know of land that fits these criteria – farmland, woodland, wetlands, or large rural estates – we’d love to hear from you.

How You Can Help

If you think your land could be a suitable release site for large wildlife, please complete the form here and email it to mail@tiggywinkles.org. Once we receive your details, our team will assess the site’s suitability and may contact you for a visit or further discussion. Thank you.

Why Your Land Matters

By offering your land or helping identify potential release sites, you’re making a meaningful difference:

  • You’re giving rehabilitated wildlife a safe route back to freedom.
  • You’re helping protect and strengthen local biodiversity.
  • You’re joining a community of landowners and conservationists working together for wildlife welfare.

And you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing your land is directly contributing to a vital cause.

Together, we can ensure that every rescued animal has the best possible chance to live wild and free.
Thank you for caring – and for helping wildlife return home.

Please Note: We are not currently looking for any more hedgehog release sites. Thank you.
