Volunteer

Thank you for your interest. We are currently looking for the following volunteers:

Rescuer

Are you someone who fancies a challenge?

We need volunteer rescuers who are happy to rescue and transport sick and injured large animals and bring them to Tiggywinkles.

We are looking for people across our rescue area – from Witney to Hemel and from Buckingham to Henley.

We will provide all the required training and equipment for you to rescue animals such as Swans, Foxes, Badgers and Deer.

We are looking for people who could be available to help – and we will be flexible around your work commitments. We get calls for help during the days, evenings, nights and weekends, so need a variety of people to help cover those times.

All volunteer Rescuers need to be over the age of 21 and be able to provide two professional referees.

You also need your own transport, a car with a hatchback or large boot (or even a small van) would be ideal.

A series of short training sessions will be carried out on site here, on weekday afternoons, covering the safe handling and transport of the different large species.

Still interested? Click here to complete our application form and return it to us now!

Ambulance Driver

We need kind caring people to go out and collect wildlife and transport it back to Tiggywinkles for emergency treatment.

These will usually be small animals such as hedgehogs and garden birds that have been picked up by a member of the public who is unable to bring us the animal themselves.

We are looking for people across our rescue area – from Witney to Hemel and from Buckingham to Henley.

You will need your own transport and, if possible, your own pet carrier and gardening gloves.

All Ambulance volunteers need to be over the age of 21 and be able to provide two professional referees.

The animals are normally sick or injured and will need immediate treatment at Tiggywinkles, so we are looking for a variety of people and can work around your commitments – calls are random and could be any of time of day, evenings or weekends.

Training will be carried out on site here, on weekday afternoons, covering the safe handling of small mammals and birds.

Foster Carers

We are looking for volunteer foster carers to look after orphaned baby wild mammals in your own home.

Full training and support is given and all equipment provided; however you will need to be available most of the time. Juvenile hedgehogs, for example, need feeding every 2-3 hours and can take a little while to feed. Each feed may take 15 to 30 minutes for the group of babies that you would be caring for.

All volunteer fosterers need to be over the age of 21 and must live within 30 minutes drive of the hospital (and have your own transport). We want to minimise the travelling time for these vulnerable wild babies. You will need to be able to collect the baby mammals and equipment.
